5 Home Exterior Trends on the Rise in 2019

Could you tell me the builder for that house or the neighborhood? Useing the stone to create a column for the staircase is beautiful and I love that the garage is so hidden. Do you have more details or pictures of the stone house I the last collection of pictures with the black garage doors? There’s three pictures and I’d love to model our house in SC after it. We’re close to reaching a point on the modern end that modern farmhouse isn’t the right description. We are in the middle of remodeling our house and doing a lot of grey white windows.

Could you please tell me what stone is used on the Bradshaw home in the 2018 parade of homes (there are two photos of this same home when you talk about shaker siding with cape cod style )? I’ve done a fair amount of research online and can’t find a way to learn more about it. Some of you may have seen that a few months ago I recapped the 2019 paint color forecasts here.

Because your eye is trained to see when things just don’t look right.

#10 // Ranch with Retaining Wall

Using a bright white shade gives a crisp, clean look, even when placed on a log cabin . The white framing of the windows makes them pop from the home while the trimwork around the roof and gable gives visual structure to the home. White is a neutral color and will work with whatever siding color is currently on your home, regardless of whether it’s dark or light. It is one of the oldest styles of siding in the country, and it can give your home a more unique look than common horizontal lap.

Somewhere along the way I think we lost sight of the value of taking the time to do things right and instead propelled the pursuit of doing them as quickly and cheaply as possible. This may have helped in a fast growing country, but it certainly didn’t produce quality and homes to marvel at. In 2019 we expect to see people once again taking the time to consider the value of good work.

#3 Coral Porch Accents

The removal of shutters and large shrubs allows for more openness and clean lines. To achieve the midcentury modern look on a variety of architectural styles, Brick & Batten simplifies. They choose siding with smooth, broad profiles—such as fiber cement siding and panels from The Aspyre Collection by James Hardie™—and use a maximum of two orientations. Also, adding shutter hardware is a wonderful was to add character and interest to your windows. Your front door is the focal point of your home and where you greet guests. That said, it’s a front door is a key to curb appeal; therefore, it should be gorgeous and reflect your personal taste. Black paint will look good on a variety of homes, but Colonial homes look exceptionally beautiful in darker shades.

Painting the trim around your windows and door can help you achieve exceptional curb appeal. Think of trim like a frame for a painting–They both help showcase works of art. Your home’s beautiful windows and front door would look incomplete without trim, so why not show it some love and make it stand out? In 2019, you can expect to see a lot of white trim on dark houses, and dark trim on white houses. Playing off light and dark accents will add depth to your home. Consider repeating the color of your roof on your trim for a cohesive appearance.

The modern farmhouse is a trend that shows no signs of slowing down in 2019. This classic architectural style gets its modern vibe with the help of a dark-hued metal roof over the porch and industrial fixtures against a crisp white backdrop.

The key to making a porch look inviting is investing in quality furniture. If you opt for cheap furniture, it can make your entire home look cheap. Think porch swings with cozy pillows and solid wood rocking chairs. Add a side table to place your morning coffee on, and you’ve got a porch that is equal parts functional and beautiful. Don’t forget to invest in some lantern-style hanging lights to match the farmhouse style. You’ll get the same classic look as vintage lanterns, without the fire hazard.
